Thaipusam is an important festival for Hindus all over-world and celebrated grandly at Malaysia. It's celebrated in name of victory by Hindu God Lord Murugan defeated 'Asura' specially Soorapadman. Thaipusam celebrated in the day full moon in month of 'Thai' (in Tamil calendar). According to Tamil calendar Thaipusam celebrated on the Pusam star. The word of Thaipusam itself combination of the name of the month and star Thai + Pusam = Thaipusam.

At Malaysia, Thaipusam celebrated grandly at serval place like at Batu Caves, Penang, Ipoh, Sungai Petani and Johor.  Some of this state allocated public holiday during Thaipusam.
